Origin of materials
Since 2018, I use gold and silver from artisanal mining certified by the Fairmined standard, as well as traceable and responsibly sourced gemstones.

I. Traceability and positive impact.
The Fairmined-certified metals I use in my pieces come from small artisanal mining communities in Colombia and Peru.
This certification has a rigorous system of audits, which ensures that the gold and silver have been extracted in harmony with the environment, human dignity and sustainable development, contributing to the preservation of ecosystems and increasing the well-being of the mining communities.
From the place of origin, the responsibly mined metals are transported to Europe through certified suppliers who transform and distribute them directly to jewellers who are certified by the organisation. In this way, traceability is guaranteed at all stages of production.
Why is it important to know the origin and traceability of materials? Because gold and gemstone mining is associated with serious environmental impacts, contamination of ecosystems and human rights violations of various kinds.
Large-scale mining and illegal mining have major social, economic and cultural impacts on local communities in countries of the global south. More information: https://origengoldforfuture.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/LaJoyeriaResponsable.pdf

II. Transparency and trust.
Once I receive the certified metal, its transformation into jewellery begins. I create the alloy, melt it down, and shape it into sheets or wires of different thicknesses. I use artisanal techniques in my workshop to shape each piece step by step.
On other occasions, I develop the designs through modelling or reproduction in wax, to then obtain the pieces in metal, through the process known as lost wax casting. This stage is carried out by external workshops, within the city, that ensure that the metal is not mixed with material from other sources, and the gold is always Fairmined certified.
The traceability of the metal is guaranteed throughout the entire process.

III. Care from the origin.
Each piece is carefully handcrafted in my workshop in Barcelona, using certified metals from fair trade supply chains and responsibly sourced gemstones, following the mine-to-market model.
The gemstones that form part of this type of ethical trade can be more accurately traced back to their source because they have a short supply chain and because their suppliers value the importance of telling the full story behind each gemstone they sell. We know where it came from, in many cases who mined it, how it was cut, or if it was treated to enhance its appearance, etc. More information: https://origengoldforfuture.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/GemasResponsables.pdf

IV. From my hands to yours.
Each piece of jewellery is born of time, care and conscious choice. I work with ethically sourced and sustainable materials, transforming them with artisanal techniques and with respect for each stage of the process.
Jewellery that celebrates beauty from start to finish, to be proud to wear it.
